In place of wives, our anti-culture offers pornography. In place of judging at the city gate with the elders, we get to add a Ukrainian flag emoji to our profiles. In place of hot fresh loaves, our society offers bug-burgers. ("If any of your sons asks for bread, which of you will give him a scorpion?") For as long as we must put up with it, this is a kind of ascetic labor, but I should like to be free of it all.
