I’m a bit older than you (42), so to me it doesn’t feel like THAT long ago, but it wasn’t THAT long ago that this ad would have raised zero eyebrows altogether. My old-man take is anger at how fast we let everything get so bad.

How far that little cartoon throws its beams!

So shines a good deed in a weary world.

Hmmm. A couple of weeks ago there was a Substack piece on the loneliness of single working Japanese women that is plaguing Japanese society and another that said the Japanese birth rate is extremely below replacement level. Maybe McDonalds knows if you don’t have children, you don’t have future customers.

Pro Natalist Commercials for a country plagued by low birth rates, loneliness and a lack of meaning in life is good for Japan, practically non-existent without left leaning political messaging in the United States.

You raise a good point Fr. Timothy.

Fantastic piece, Mr Prude.

I always laugh when people proclaim that kids are too expensive. Our ancestors, my very recent ancestors, lived through wars and poverty, had still had massive families. These things just don't matter.

We may be poor, but we will be happy.

So true - it's not that children are expensive - they're not - it's that all the expectations we've built up in our consumerist society insists that people need all kinds of things to raise them....which we don't. But the more expensive the elites make it SEEM to have kids because you need X,Y,Z and we keep raising the prices of those, the lower the controllable population becomes....which is really their goal. To have a population of a size that the Elites want, so they can control and use them, like any other "resource".

I am just happy to watch a commercial that doesn’t try to be funny for once. By now, I’ve probably watched thousands of these attempts, and I don’t think I’ve ever laughed at a single one. Being exposed to stupid, unfunny ads in between every song and video on YouTube makes me want to throw my phone against a wall.

The society the Left wants to create to replace Western Civilization is fortunately self limiting due to its pushing of homosexuality and not having kids, but unfortunately they'll take down everyone else in their hatred of the kind of normalcy the Japanese so clearly represented in this commercial. You either believe in and create the future, which is healthy families with definable Dads and Moms and actual children instead of chihuahuas and cats....or you don't. The Left does not so fortunately it will extinguish itself at some point. We just have to try to survive them and rebuild.
